20ten lists of things to do in 2010 List #1 Concerts

As we start winding down one year thankful that it is over and we survived it is time to start thinking about the year ahead. 2010 is looming all shiny and new and full of potential. To help with your planning I have compiled 20 lists of 10.

Each list contains 10 suggestions for things to do and see for each category. They are based on the information available at the time and do not guarantee the quality of the actual suggestion, like watching Britney Spears ‘live’ concert you do not always get what you expect. The lists are not ranked in any order, they are not even in chronological order. I have not surveyed 100 viewers and I have not got C grade celebrities to read overly scripted opinions

There will be people who want to suggest other things that should be added to the list or other lists, if you are one of these people then please do so, in the comments section.

20ten lists will include; movies, theatre, shopping, festivals, television, beaches and more.

20ten CONCERTS

2010 is shaping up to be year of blasts from the past and revival tours but here are some of the biggest old names visiting our shores in 2010

1. Tom Jones
Performing as part of A Day on the Green, Jones is touring New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia and Victoria. Perhaps signalling that he is past his rock and roll hey days, Sir Tom is inviting people to bring a picnic rug to his 2010 concerts. Dinner, transport and show packages are also available.

For a limited time only tickets purchased online will also receive a free copy of his latest album 24 Hours. I am not saying that it is not up to his usual standard but if it was a movie it sounds a little bit like a “straight to DVD” release. Either way I am sure many of his audience will still think this Welshman is still a sex bomb.

2. Julio Iglesias
Talking of sex bombs, Julio Iglesias brings his show One Starry Night to Australia for limited tour. Very limited. If you want to be wooed or use the King of Romance to help get your partner in the mood then you might have to be prepared to travel, with shows announced for New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.

While he may not be promoting an album specifically, this Spanish swooner is celebrating 40 years in the music industry. Here’s hoping he adds more venues to his party.

3. Cliff Richard
Yes he is still alive and no his face still hasn’t aged…much. Sir Cliff Richard and the Shadows are or their way back to Australia for their Final Reunion –together again tour. Whilst this stinks of John Farnham’s The Last Time tour which may still be going given his recent appearances at the 2009 AFL Grand Final and primetime television, it is a lot further for the ageless British performer to travel so this might really be it.

The tour takes in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia as they celebrate 50 years of performing. This could be your last chance to see why Cliff has had number 1 hits in five consecutive decades and is second only to Elvis Presley for total time spent on the British record charts

4. AC/DC
Acadaca are back for their Black Ice Tour. Proving the are still rock and roll, in case having a Melbourne alley named after them was not enough, it is a stadium tour, to coincide with their latest album of the same name.

There are eleven concerts booked around the Australia in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Victoria as part of their 18 country world tour. AC/DC are proving that even after 35 years they are one of the premiere live bands in the world. Tickets are selling fast so the best way to get hold of one might be EBay or from a radio station competition.

5. Guy Sebastian
One of the few contestants from any series of Australian Idol that anyone can still name without being prompted, Guy Sebastian is on the road again. If you have not had your television on during the last few weeks you may not have noticed Guy’s now neat and tidy fro pop up on nearly every program promoting his new album Like It Like That. The album promotion continues with this tour visiting New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.

The nice guy of Australian pop music, this concert tour is sure to be popular, particularly with the ladies of all ages.

6. Kelly Clarkson
Again proving the original is the best, Clarkson – like Sebastian – won the first season of Idol, this time in America. She is bringing her All I Ever Wanted Tour down under to New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia. Another tour coinciding with a studio album release.

Kelly has a growing list of television credits, besides her famed run on Idol, indicating that she might actually have some talent, besides her ability to sing a 90second truncated cover song.

7. Ronan Keating
Ronan is performing a couple of indoor shows before joining the A Day on the Green bandwagon. A member of Boyzone before going solo, Keating has the world record of 30 consecutive top 10 singles, the most of any artist (even more than Elvis – starting to wonder if he really was the King).

This tour comes hot on the heels of the success of his 2009 album Song For My Mother which was #1 on the ARIA charts for four weeks in 2009. With an album title like that and performing concerts where picnics are encouraged, could there be a better concert to take a date? Dinner and transport packages are available.

8. George Michael
Having survived being a member of Wham! and his numerous infamous performances with the police – the constabulary not the band – George Michael is set to perform in New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia. Originally only a two concert tour, a third site, Melbourne has already been added so other state keep your fingers crossed.

This concert is sure to be a live performance to remember. Dinner and cocktail packages are also available

9. Lady Gaga
Female, male who cares if she is not running in a world championship 800m race. Either way she has created more than a few popular songs and more than her fair share of media attention. Her Australian tour provides us with a chance to see what all of the fuss is about.

Her sideshow and The Monster Ball Tour entourage will roll through New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia. The paparazzi will be in a frenzy and so will Australia’s youth.

10. Empire of the Sun
Having added more wealth to their Empire with their recent success at the 2009 ARIA Awards picking up the prize for Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Best Group and Best Pop Release, Empire of the Sun is currently touring the country as part of a number of music festivals.

In 2010 see them as part of The Soundscape Festival and Future Music Festival. As well as New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia, they are also heading south and visiting Tasmania. Mae the most of this rare Apple Isle live performance.
